“The world is changed by your example, not your opinion.”— Paulo Coelho
May 13th-May 14th is officially Yom Haatzmout or Israel’s Independence Day 🇮🇱, 76 years since David Ben Gurion read the Israeli Declaration of Independence.
This year, the country is heartbroken 💔 as memorials carry over from Yom HaZikaron the days prior remembering the fallen soldiers who gave their lives for her independence, including the loss of those killed recently since October 7th.
I’ve watched those deeply loved mourn friends, colleagues, employees and strangers who became friends in the blink of an eye mourn parents who remain held hostage, parents who lost children, wives who are waiting for their husbands return, and those who partnered to heal Israel get called back to fight for her Independence.
Each person I meet or have known and love impacts my life in a way that words can’t describe. The resilience and determination is contagious. Beneath the smiles and hugs I can feel their pain. Their selflessness to do good for others takes precedence over their suffering. I encourage you to take action. Find an opportunity to work with evacuee families and children who are living in hotels across Jerusalem and Tel Aviv, help the Hamal Ezrachi build kindergarten schools so children can learn, help the farmers plant crops so the land can be replenished, pack boxes for soldiers at Erans Angels, or simply reach out to someone and see where you can donate your time and get to know the people. I encourage you to search for the beauty and unwavering joy that may change your life. Being a keyboard warrior with an opinion and no action is a path to self deprivation.
